How to pack drone batteries for a flight

Before leaving home

1. Check every battery for swelling, dents, punctures, heat damage or recall status.
2. Confirm the Wh rating printed by the manufacturer.
3. Protect each spare battery's terminals individually.
4. Put spare/removed lithium batteries in your cabin baggage, not checked baggage.
5. Completely switch off the drone if the aircraft itself is checked.
6. Open your airline's official rule page one final time.

Terminal protection

Use original retail packaging, a battery case/sleeve, a snug individual plastic bag, or non-conductive tape over exposed terminals. A charging hub by itself should not be assumed to be short-circuit protection.

At the gate

If staff take your cabin bag for gate checking, remove all spare lithium batteries first and keep them in the cabin.
